Nagoya, Inuyama, Sendai and Aizu tickets compared

Seven single-venue tickets sold on SkyGate across Aichi, Sendai, Chitose and Aizuwakamatsu, from Nagoya's zoo and Sky Tower to the Inuyama open-air museums, three aquariums and a castle tower. This guide sorts them by the kind of day each one is, and marks what the sources leave unconfirmed.

Quick answer

According to SkyGate's listings read on 29 September 2026, each of these seven tickets admits you to one venue. In Aichi, pick between the Nagoya zoo and Sky Tower, the two Inuyama open-air museums (Meiji-mura for relocated Meiji-era buildings, Little World for world homes) and the Minamichita aquarium-and-Toy-Kingdom ticket. Outside Aichi, SkyGate's listings place the Chitose, Sendai and Aizuwakamatsu venues in three different cities, so XTOUR reads them as stops on a route rather than rivals.

The short answer

The seven listings below answer different questions rather than one.[14][12][10][8][6][4][1] Four sit within reach of Nagoya in Aichi and compete for the same day: the zoo and Sky Tower in the city, two open-air museums in Inuyama, and an aquarium-plus-toy-pavilion site on the Chita Peninsula. The other three each sit in a different city, Chitose in Hokkaido, Sendai in Miyagi and Aizuwakamatsu in Fukushima, so the choice there is about where your route already goes. Every one of them admits you to a single venue; none is a tour.[14][12][10][8][6][4][1]

Aichi: choose the kind of day

Nagoya-City Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens is the city option. SkyGate describes around 450 animal species and 7,000 plant species on a 60-hectare site, and a 1936 Front Greenhouse designated an Important Cultural Property. It has three options, and the difference matters: the zoo and botanical garden admission, the same plus Higashiyama Sky Tower, and a Sky Tower Admission that covers the tower and not the zoo. The tower is a 134-metre observation tower beside the zoo, according to SkyGate.[1] The tower is run separately: its own site lists 9:00 to 21:30 with entry until 21:00, and closure on Mondays and over the year end.[3] The zoo's site shows one pattern of 9:00 to 16:50 with entry until 16:30 for the zoo area, and another on illumination dates when the botanical garden runs to 20:30; it also carries a price-revision notice for October 2026.[2] SkyGate adds that some animals return to their housing from around 4pm and that last admission is 20 minutes before closing.[1] XTOUR's reading: a tower-only ticket suits an evening view, while a zoo ticket is a daytime commitment. See the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens and Higashiyama Sky Tower pages on XTOUR.

The Museum Meijimura Ticket and The Little World Museum of Man Ticket are the two Inuyama open-air museums, and they are about different subjects: SkyGate describes Museum Meiji-mura as preserving more than 60 historic buildings from Japan's modernisation, with the central entrance of Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel and the former home of the writers Mori Ogai and Natsume Soseki.[4] Wikidata records it as an open-air museum with an inception date of 18 March 1965.[5] Little World, by contrast, is about cultures beyond Japan: SkyGate lists an Ainu house from Hokkaido, a Balinese nobleman's home, a Tlingit house from Alaska and European buildings from Bavaria, Alsace and Alberobello, plus a main museum on human evolution, technology, language, society and values. Both the operator and SkyGate describe a 2.5-kilometre route.[7][6]

Practical differences are on the sources' side. SkyGate says some Meiji-mura areas are not fully accessible because of steep slopes and steps, that buildings may be unavailable for repairs, and that the museum may close without notice in severe weather.[4] Little World's own facilities page says an in-park bus runs a loop with stops at the main exhibits, paid separately and in cash, and that wheelchairs are lent free but in limited numbers and should be reserved by phone. Its calendar publishes different hours for weekdays and for weekends and holidays, and lists closed days, so check the operator's calendar for your date.[7] SkyGate's Little World listing also says entry may be refused for clothing or costumes considered unsuitable or offensive.[6] Meiji-mura's operator page returned an access error when XTOUR tried it, so its hours and getting-around details are not confirmed here.

Both museums have a second option for younger visitors: Little World's infant option is for ages 3 to 5, and Meiji-mura's is for high school students aged 15 to 18 with a valid student ID.[4][6] XTOUR's reading: pick Meiji-mura for Japanese architecture and Meiji-era history, Little World for a world-cultures walk, and do not assume both fit one day, since no source says how long each takes. See the Museum Meiji-mura and Little World Museum of Man pages on XTOUR.

Minamichita Beach Land and Minamichita Toy Kingdom Ticket is the family option on the Chita Peninsula, not in Nagoya: SkyGate's address is in Mihama, Aichi.[8] The single option is shared admission to both areas. SkyGate describes dolphins, sea lions, walruses, seals and penguins, scheduled animal shows, and indoor themed toy pavilions. Rides are the catch: the option text says rides need separate ride tickets, and the operator's amusement page lists rides with their own ride tickets, including a 40-metre Ferris wheel.[9][8] XTOUR has not verified which rides sit in which area. The operator's home page shows show times and hours that change by day, so they are not restated here. Train access from Nagoya-area stations on the Meitetsu line is listed on the operator's access page, without a journey time XTOUR could read.[9] See the Minamichita Beach Land page on XTOUR.

Three aquariums, not interchangeable

The Chitose, Sendai and Minamichita tickets look alike but describe different kinds of aquarium.

  • Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium Ticket is a freshwater aquarium: SkyGate describes salmon, Lake Shikotsu tanks and an underground observation zone with windows into the Chitose River.[12] Visit Hokkaido says the river-side observation zone is Japan's first, that about 10,000 creatures are shown, and that the aquarium is inside Salmon Park in Chitose, about 10 minutes on foot from JR Chitose Station, opening 9:00 to 17:00 (it says facility information is subject to change).[13] The operator's own page (Chitose city) could not be read, so the tourism body is the hours source. SkyGate's listing says ramps give wheelchair access throughout, and children under 6 are free. The high-school option is for ages 15 to 18 with a student ID.[12] XTOUR's reading: a stop for a Chitose layover or an airport-side afternoon, not a marine-life show.
  • Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium Ticket is a marine aquarium in Miyagino Ward, Sendai: SkyGate describes a large ocean tank of Tohoku marine life, themed habitats and penguin and marine-animal presentations.[10] The operator's site (Japanese) features a large tank with about 25,000 sardines and dolphin, sea lion and bird performances at its stadium.[11] SkyGate says last admission is 30 minutes before closing, and the second option covers youth aged 12 to 18 and infants aged 4 to 5.[10]
  • Minamichita Beach Land and Minamichita Toy Kingdom Ticket , above, is the one built around shows and play, and the only one of the three that bundles a second attraction.

Tsurugajo Castle: a heritage stop, not a day

The Tsurugajo Castle (Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle) Ticket is the odd one out: history, in Fukushima, and the single option, per SkyGate, is admission to the castle tower museum and its top-floor viewing level. SkyGate describes five floors on Aizu's lords, heritage and the Boshin War, and says the museum is reached by stairs, so it is not a step-free stop.[14] Fukushima Travel says the park is free to enter and the tower is charged separately, that hours are 8:30 to 17:00 with last entrance at 16:30, and that the fifth-floor platform looks to Mt. Bandai and Mt. Iimoriyama. It also says the tower has been rebuilt several times while the stone walls remain original, and that the "Haikara-san" loop bus from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station stops near the castle.[15] XTOUR's reading: buy the ticket only if the tower museum, rather than the grounds, is what you want. See the Tsurugajo Castle page on XTOUR.

How to choose

  • A city day with a view: the Nagoya zoo ticket with Sky Tower, or the Sky Tower option alone.
  • Japanese history and architecture: The Museum Meijimura Ticket.
  • Cultures from around the world: The Little World Museum of Man Ticket.
  • Children who want shows and toys, and a trip to the Chita Peninsula: the Minamichita ticket.
  • Freshwater and river life near Hokkaido's airport: the Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium Ticket.
  • Sea life and animal performances in Sendai: the Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium Ticket.
  • Samurai-era history in Aizuwakamatsu: the Tsurugajo Castle ticket.

Before you book

  • SkyGate's calendars, not this guide, decide which dates you can book; some of these listings show few open dates, and the operator's own page governs opening days.
  • Every listing points you to the operator's site for daily hours and closures.[14][12][10][8][6][4][1]
  • Age-restricted options (high school, youth, infants) apply only to those ages; children's free-entry ages differ by venue.[4][6][10][12]
  • The Sky Tower-only option does not admit to the zoo, and the Minamichita ticket does not include rides.[8][1]
  • Little World's in-park bus and Minamichita's rides are separate purchases.[9][7]

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Does the Sky Tower-only option include the zoo?

No. According to SkyGate's option titles and descriptions, the Higashiyama Sky Tower Admission option covers the tower, while the zoo-and-gardens option and the zoo, gardens and Sky Tower option cover the zoo and botanical gardens.

Does the Minamichita ticket include the amusement rides?

According to SkyGate's listing, no: rides need separate ride tickets on top of the shared entry to the aquarium and the Toy Kingdom pavilions. The operator's amusement page describes a ride-ticket system, and XTOUR has not verified which rides sit in which area.

Is Tsurugajo Castle's park covered by the ticket?

According to SkyGate's listing, the ticket is for the castle tower museum and its top-floor viewing level. Fukushima Travel's page says the park entrance is free and the tower is charged separately, so XTOUR reads the ticket as the tower, not the grounds.

Where is Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium?

It is in Chitose, Hokkaido. Visit Hokkaido's page places it inside Salmon Park in the Hanazono area of Chitose, and SkyGate's listing gives a Hanasono 2-chome address in Chitose, Hokkaido.
