Provence, Marseille and Riviera: tickets and tours

Eleven SkyGate products across the south of France: Avignon's palace and bridge, the Luberon, the Pont du Gard, Carrières des Lumières, the Mucem, the Château d'If, La Barben, the Seaquarium and two Riviera tours from Nice. This guide says what each admits you to, where tours only stop, and which venues are not where their labels suggest.

Quick answer

According to SkyGate's listings read on 3 October 2026, the Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon Ticket admits you to both monuments, while the Avignon walking tour, the Luberon tour and both Riviera tours from Nice name their sights without saying which entries are included. According to SkyGate, the Château d'If ticket excludes the boat from Marseille, and the Carrières des Lumières ticket can only be booked for dates up to 8 October 2026, the end of the venue's current programme.

The short answer

Split the choice in two. Seven products are venue tickets, each for one site: the Palais des Papes with the Pont d'Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Carrières des Lumières, the Mucem, the Château d'If, La Barben and the Seaquarium. The four tours, one in Avignon, one into the Luberon and two along the Riviera from Nice, are guided outings whose listings name sights without saying which entries are included, so XTOUR treats those sights as stops.[11][10][3][2]

Avignon: the combined ticket or the guided walk

The Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon Ticket is a single Admission option to both monuments. SkyGate asks you to arrive on time for your timeslot at the palace and says the bridge can be visited before or after it.[1] The palace's own site says the combined palace and bridge ticket is valid from the day of the visit to the next day, with one entry per site.[12] The regional tourism site describes the Pont Saint-Bénézet as a UNESCO World Heritage bridge of which four arches still stand.[13]

SkyGate says children under 8 go free and sells child tickets from 8 to 17, while the palace's site says entry is free under 10; XTOUR has not reconciled the two. The palace says that, because of its many steps, the monument is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, while SkyGate says the bridge has a lift.[12][1] See the Palais des Papes and Pont Saint-Bénézet pages on XTOUR.

The Avignon and Popes Palace Walking Tour is the guided alternative. SkyGate's option describes an English-speaking guide through the historic centre, a visit to the Popes Palace, views from the Rocher des Doms garden and a glass of Côtes du Rhône at the end. Its price lists "Admission" without naming the palace, so XTOUR has not confirmed that palace entry is included, and the option gives no meeting point. SkyGate says the tour is not suitable for children under 4, that under-18s are not served wine, and that it is not accessible with a stroller.[2]

The Luberon from Avignon

The Luberon Guided Tour from Avignon is a small-group tour that visits Roussillon, sees the Roman-era Pont Julien, passes the castle ruins at Lacoste and ends with free time in Gordes before returning to Avignon. Its price includes a tour guide and nothing else, so no entries are covered. SkyGate's page says to meet the guide at the Tourism Office of Avignon, but gives no address or time in the option.[3] See the Gordes and Roussillon pages on XTOUR.

Pont du Gard: in Occitanie, not Avignon

The Pont du Gard and Museum Ticket with Audio Guide is listed by SkyGate under Avignon, but the monument is elsewhere: Wikidata places it in Vers-Pont-du-Gard, in the Gard département of the Occitanie region.[15] The site describes a 1st-century Roman aqueduct bridge 49 metres high, part of a system that carried water from Uzès to Nîmes, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.[14] SkyGate's option covers the discovery spaces, including the museum, the cinema film and the Ludo area for children, with an official audio guide.[4]

SkyGate's only bookable ticket is for adults, because its child policy says under-18s enter free.[4] The option is not marked as direct admission and the page does not explain how the voucher is exchanged, so check the voucher after booking. See the Pont du Gard page on XTOUR.

Carrières des Lumières: bookable only until 8 October 2026

The Carrières des Lumières Entry Ticket is a dated product.[5] The venue's own site gives the current programme, "Picasso" and "Frida Kahlo", as running from 21 September to 8 October 2026.[16] On 3 October 2026 SkyGate's calendar showed dates up to 8 October only, and XTOUR's listing stops being bookable after that day, Paris time.[5] The venue says it is open every day including public holidays, and it had not announced the next programme on the pages XTOUR read.[16]

The venue is on Route de Maillane at Les Baux-de-Provence, which is not the same as the village or its château.[16] SkyGate says children under 7 go free, and that the show is not recommended for children under 2 or for people with light sensitivity or epilepsy.[5] See the Carrières des Lumières page on XTOUR.

Marseille: the Mucem or the Château d'If

The Mucem Admission Ticket is general admission; SkyGate's product title says "Fast Track", but the option text describes general admission only and no separate entrance. The option adds access to Fort Saint-Jean and the museum's outdoor areas and gardens, and the Mucem itself says one ticket covers all permanent and temporary exhibitions and that the outdoor areas are free.[17] SkyGate's option is sold to adults aged 26 and over only, and the page does not say how younger visitors are admitted.[6] See the Mucem page on XTOUR.

The Château d'If Admission Ticket covers the island fortress, not the boat.[7] The monument's own site places it off the coast of Marseille, and Marseille Tourisme puts the islet one nautical mile from the Vieux-Port, served by Frioul-If-Express shuttles.[19][18] SkyGate says ferry transport is not included and that a visit may be rescheduled if the venue closes for bad weather.[7] Marseille Tourisme says the château is closed on Mondays outside the period from 2 April to 30 September.[19] SkyGate's option is for adults; its listing says under-18s go free with an adult, as do EU citizens and French residents aged 18 to 25.[7] See the Château d'If page on XTOUR.

Families: La Barben or the Seaquarium

The La Barben Animal Park Ticket is one Park Admission option for adults (13 and over) and children (3 to 12), with under-3s free.[8] Bienvenue en Provence places the zoo about 6 km from Salon-de-Provence and describes about 700 animals of 130 species; the operator's own site could not be read.[20] SkyGate says bicycles, scooters, balloons and pets are not allowed and that opening hours vary by season.[8] See the La Barben Animal Park page on XTOUR.

The Seaquarium Le Grau-du-Roi Ticket is for an aquarium in the Gard, in Occitanie, run as a centre of scientific culture for marine ecosystems.[21] Seaquarium Admission is the standard option (adults 16 and over, children 5 to 15); Seaquarium Reduced Admission is for students, high-school students and disabled visitors aged 15 and over with proof. SkyGate says children under 5 need no ticket, re-entry is not permitted, and the route has lifts between levels.[9] See the Seaquarium Le Grau-du-Roi page on XTOUR.

Riviera tours from Nice: an afternoon or a full day

Both tours leave from Nice by air-conditioned minibus with a guide, and neither option states a meeting point, so confirm it with the seller after booking.[11] The Cannes and Antibes Guided Tour from Nice is an afternoon: Antibes for its fortress walls, then through Juan-les-Pins and Golfe-Juan to Cannes.[10] The Cannes, Monaco, Antibes, Eze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence Tour from Nice is a full day covering five places.[11] One of them, Monaco, is a separate sovereign country, not part of France.[22] Both price lists include "Admission" without naming a venue, so XTOUR treats every place as a stop. On 3 October 2026 SkyGate's calendar showed both tours from 7 to 31 October 2026.[11][10] See the Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Eze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence pages on XTOUR.

How to choose

  • For villages rather than monuments, the Luberon tour from Avignon.[3]
  • For a Roman site with a museum, the Pont du Gard ticket; for projected art, Carrières des Lumières, only up to 8 October 2026.[5][4]
  • In Marseille, the Mucem for collections on the waterfront, the Château d'If for the island, with the boat booked separately.[7][6]
  • With children, La Barben for animals near Salon-de-Provence, the Seaquarium for marine life on the Gard coast.[21][20]

Before you book

  • Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon, Luberon and Carrières des Lumières bookings are non-refundable on SkyGate; the other products allow a full refund up to 24 hours before.[9][8][7][6][4][2][5][3][11][10][1]
  • Carrières des Lumières: the last bookable date is 8 October 2026.[5]
  • Château d'If: book the boat from the Vieux-Port separately and check the Monday closures.[19][7]
