Quick answer

According to SkyGate's listings, two products sell Versailles and both contain a transfer-only option that does not include palace entry. According to SkyGate, entry comes with the two admission options on the Palace of Versailles Ticket, or with the first option of the audio-guided tour, which adds return transfers from Paris. Fontainebleau, Vincennes and Saint-Denis are entry tickets only, with no transport, and Saint-Denis has a Monday-only option.

Four sites, four towns, none in Paris

The four sites here are each in their own commune outside the city: the palace in Versailles in the Yvelines, the château in Fontainebleau in Seine-et-Marne, the Château de Vincennes in Vincennes in the Val-de-Marne, and the basilica in Saint-Denis in Seine-Saint-Denis.[13] Versailles and Fontainebleau are separate towns, and Vincennes and Saint-Denis are separate communes, so XTOUR treats each as its own outing.

Transport appears only on the two Versailles products, and only one option combines it with palace entry: the first option of the audio-guided tour.[2][1] Everything else is entry, and you make your own way. The trap is a transfer-only option that appears on both Versailles products and does not include the palace.[2][1]

Versailles: two products, five options

The Palace and Park of Versailles has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979.[11] The palace says every visitor must book a time slot, and it closes the palace and the Trianon estate on Mondays and on 25 December, 1 January and 1 May.[6][7] That applies to every option below.

Palace of Versailles Ticket

This product has three options, and only the first two get you in.

  • Admission - Palace of Versailles + Gardens + Estate of Trianon + Audio Guide: timed entry to the palace and all its rooms, the gardens and Musical Fountains Show, the Estate of Trianon, the Coach Gallery at weekends, and an audio guide with 77 points of interest.[1]
  • Admission - Palace of Versailles + Gardens + Estate of Trianon: the same entry without the audio guide; when XTOUR read SkyGate's calendar on 3 October 2026, this option showed open dates only up to 1 November 2026.[1]
  • Palace of Versailles - Round Trip Transfers from Paris Only: shared return transport from Paris; SkyGate says palace admission is not included and must be bought separately.[1]

Both admission options are non-refundable, and SkyGate names Place d'Armes in Versailles as the redemption address for the first.[1] The palace lists its Musical Fountains Show from early April to late October only, so check that before counting on the show named in the option.[7] The palace's own site names three stations in Versailles: Versailles Château Rive Gauche on RER C, Versailles Chantiers from Gare Montparnasse and Versailles Rive Droite from Gare Saint-Lazare.[6]

Palace of Versailles Audio-Guided Tour with Round-Trip Transfers from Paris

This product has two options, and both start at the PARISCityVISION office at 6 avenue du Dr Brouardel in Paris's 7th arrondissement, according to SkyGate's voucher text; XTOUR has not verified that meeting point independently.[2]

  • Palace of Versailles Audio-Guided Tour with Round Trip Transfers from Paris: shared transfers, palace admission with priority access, and a multilingual audio guide. SkyGate's itinerary runs through the gardens, the Grand Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors, then free time before the return to Paris.[2]
  • Palace of Versailles - Round Trip Transfers from Paris Only: the same transfer-only option sold on the ticket product above; it does not include palace admission.[2]

SkyGate says the audio guide runs on your own phone with your own headphones, and that strollers are not allowed inside. It also warns that the palace may be difficult for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Both options can be cancelled for a full refund up to 48 hours before the date, and child tickets cover ages 3 to 17, with under-3s free.[2] "Priority access" is SkyGate's wording; its page does not say how much waiting it saves.

See the Château de Versailles page on XTOUR.

Château de Fontainebleau Ticket

The Palace and Park of Fontainebleau has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1981.[12] SkyGate's single option is general admission to the main visitor route, the state apartments and the Napoleon I Museum.[3] The page's description mentions priority entry, but the option text does not, so XTOUR does not promise it. Unlike the Versailles and Vincennes entry tickets, it can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before the date.[3]

The château is closed on Tuesdays and on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December, and it is free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month except July and August, according to its own site. Its directions are a train from Paris Gare de Lyon towards Montargis, Montereau or Laroche-Migennes to Fontainebleau-Avon, then bus 3401 to the "Château" stop. SkyGate says there are no lockers, but the château's own page describes free lockers for pushchairs and bulky bags, so check on arrival.[3][8] See the Château de Fontainebleau page on XTOUR.

Chateau de Vincennes

XTOUR lists this ticket as Chateau de Vincennes . Its single option admits you to the château and all temporary exhibitions through the priority entrance; SkyGate does not say how much time that saves. The ticket is non-refundable.[4]

The Château de Vincennes is at avenue de Paris, 94300 Vincennes, served by metro line 1 at Château de Vincennes and RER A at Vincennes, according to the Centre des monuments nationaux. It is open every day except 1 January, 1 May and 25 December, and the Sainte-Chapelle closes for a break in the middle of the day. Luggage is limited to 30 × 40 × 15 cm and, because it is a military site, there is no luggage storage. The monument says under-18s enter free and children under 16 must be with an adult.[9] See the Château de Vincennes page on XTOUR.

Basilica of Saint Denis Ticket

The basilica is the burial place of French kings and queens, and SkyGate's two options split by day.[5]

  • Royal Necropolis + Fabrique de la Fleche - Admission: the royal necropolis, with about 70 recumbent tomb figures, plus the Fabrique de la Flèche, the workshop rebuilding the north tower and spire.[5]
  • Royal Necropolis - Admission: the necropolis only, valid only on Mondays, when the Fabrique de la Flèche is closed.[5]

Both options can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before the date.[5] The Centre des monuments nationaux says the basilica closes during religious services and on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. Its October 2026 notice lists shortened access on 9, 10, 16, 17 and 25 October and closure all day on Sunday 18 October. It gives the address as 1 rue de la Légion d'Honneur, 93200 Saint-Denis, with metro line 13 at Basilique de Saint-Denis, a station with no lift.[10] See the Basilica of Saint-Denis page on XTOUR.

How to choose

  • You want transport and entry in one booking: the first option of the Palace of Versailles Audio-Guided Tour with Round-Trip Transfers from Paris.[2]
  • You will take the train to Versailles: an admission option on the Palace of Versailles Ticket, with or without the audio guide.[1]
  • You already have a palace ticket and only need the coach: the transfer-only option, on either product.[2][1]
  • A refundable entry ticket on its own: Fontainebleau or Saint-Denis.[5][3]
  • Something on the metro: Vincennes on line 1 or Saint-Denis on line 13.[10][9]
  • Kings' tombs on a Monday: the Royal Necropolis option at Saint-Denis.[5]

Before you book

  • Do not book Versailles for a Monday or Fontainebleau for a Tuesday.[8][6]
  • Under-18s: SkyGate sells the four entry tickets to adults only and says under-18s enter free; at Versailles the palace still requires a booked time slot for them.[7][5][4][3][1] The Versailles tour is the exception, with child tickets for ages 3 to 17.[2]
  • Pack light for Vincennes, where there is no luggage storage.[9]
  • Check the Saint-Denis closure list for your date.[10]
