Why go

The operator's site presents Muang Boran, The Ancient City, as an open-air museum in Samut Prakan Province, founded by Lek Viriyahbhun with the support of his wife Prapai Viriyahbhun. Its Thai home page says the founders laid out a large private plot in the shape of a map of Thailand with replicas of important ancient monuments, and that both the structures built after models and those acquired and restored there are placed in their home regions; the English page says the grounds are divided into Northern, Northeastern, Central and Southern regions. A replica here is not the monument it copies. The operator lists the Erawan Museum and the Sanctuary of Truth as sites outside the Ancient City; they are separate places. Opening hours and tickets are set by the operator; check its site before you go.
