Bảo tàng Lịch sử Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh

The Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History is the city's history museum at 2 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm in the former District 1, founded in 1929 as the Blanchard de la Brosse Museum, with collections on Vietnamese history to 1945 and on the cultures of southern Vietnam and Asia.

Why go

The Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History (Bảo tàng Lịch sử Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) began, its own history page says, as the Blanchard de la Brosse Museum in 1929, was named the National Museum of Vietnam in Saigon from 1956, and took its present name in 1979. The museum says it holds more than 40,000 objects presenting Vietnamese history and culture from prehistory to 1945 and the cultures of the southern provinces and of several Asian countries, and that its front building, built in 1927 to a design by the architect Auguste Delaval, was recognised as a national architectural and artistic monument in 2012. Its address is 2 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm. The museum takes registrations for a guided presentation through a form on its site.
