Horseshoe Bend

A 270-degree bend of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area near Page, Arizona.

Why go

Horseshoe Bend is a meander of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, near Page in Coconino County, Arizona. The National Park Service, read on 3 October 2026, describes the river sweeping around a sandstone escarpment to form a roughly 1,000-foot-deep, 270-degree horseshoe-shaped curve, about 5 miles south of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center along US Highway 89, reached by a 1.5-mile round-trip walk on a hardened path. The City of Page charges for parking at the trailhead, and National Park Service passes do not apply there.
