Why go
Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, is the Catholic cathedral on Mount Pleasant in Liverpool. Its history page says the foundation stone of Edwin Lutyens' design was laid in 1933 and only his crypt was completed, and that Frederick Gibberd's circular cathedral was built from 1962 and consecrated at Pentecost in May 1967; the page says it was made Grade I listed in 2025. The cathedral's visit page asks visitors to check closure notices because access may be limited during special events, and says photography is welcome except during services, concerts and rehearsals and is not allowed in the Crypt Treasury. This record is the Catholic cathedral, not the Anglican Liverpool Cathedral.
