Trúc Lâm Zen Monastery, Đà Lạt

Thiền viện Trúc Lâm Đà Lạt

The Trúc Lâm Zen monastery is a Buddhist monastery on Phượng Hoàng hill above Tuyền Lâm Lake, south of central Đà Lạt, with quarters for its monastic community and areas open to visitors.

Why go

Vietnam's national tourism authority says the monastery follows the Zen tradition founded by the Trần-dynasty king Trần Nhân Tông, who gave up his throne to become a monk. It says the compound has private quarters for the sangha and public areas open to visitors, with flower gardens, ceremonial halls and views over Tuyền Lâm Lake. This record is the Đà Lạt monastery, not the Trúc Lâm monastery at Yên Tử. It is a place of living worship; dress and conduct rules were not read on a monastery page.
