Sapporo and Noboribetsu attractions: which ticket to pick

Eight Hokkaido venue tickets on SkyGate, split across three decisions: which Sapporo viewpoint, whether to pair the Hokkaido Museum with the Historical Village, and which Noboribetsu venue to choose. This guide compares what each option covers and marks what the sources leave unknown.

Quick answer

According to SkyGate's listings read on 29 September 2026, Sapporo has three viewpoint tickets (Sapporo TV Tower, JR Tower T38 and the Mount Moiwa ropeway), two Atsubetsu museum tickets that overlap on the same pair of venues, and three Noboribetsu venue tickets that are in Noboribetsu, not Sapporo or Chitose. Pick one viewpoint, decide museum-only or museum plus village by the option titles, and pick one Noboribetsu venue by what you came to see.

The short answer

These eight tickets answer three different questions, and each has its own answer. For a view of Sapporo, choose one of three viewpoints. For the museums in Atsubetsu Ward, choose the museum alone, the village alone, or the pair. For a day in Noboribetsu, choose one of three venues by what you want to look at: bears, Edo-period stage shows, or an aquarium.

One geography point first. SkyGate files the Noboribetsu Bear Park under the city label Chitose and Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura under Sapporo, but the operators' own addresses are in Noboribetsu.[16][14] None of the sources read for this guide gives a Sapporo-to-Noboribetsu journey time, so XTOUR does not state one; plan the Noboribetsu venues as their own day.

Which Sapporo viewpoint

XTOUR's reading: the three viewpoint tickets differ in what you go up and in what you see from the top.

The Sapporo TV Tower Observation Deck is the lower of the two towers: SkyGate puts the deck at 90.38 metres, reached in 60 seconds by elevator from the third floor, with views over Odori Park and towards the Ishikari countryside and the Sea of Japan.[1] The operator gives 9:00 to 22:00 with last deck entry at 21:50, and says deck tickets are sold at a third-floor counter.[2] SkyGate's option says to show the e-voucher on a mobile to gain admission, so whether you go to the counter first is not settled by the sources; follow the voucher instructions.[1]

The Sapporo JR Tower Observation Deck T38 is the higher one. The operator puts the deck on the 38th floor at 160 metres, and describes views by compass direction: the Odori and Susukino district and Mount Moiwa to the south, and the Teine mountain range to the west.[5] The operator gives 10:00 to 22:00 with last entry at 21:30, and a cafe on the deck that serves a cafe menu by day and a bar menu at night.[4] The voucher is not the ticket: SkyGate says you exchange it for a physical ticket at the Observatory Information Counter on the 6th floor of JR Tower East, and directs you to the elevator at Sapporo Stella Place.[3]

The Sapporo Mount Moiwa Ropeway and Mini Cable Car is a different kind of outing, because you ride up a mountain. Sapporo's city tourism site says the ropeway climbs 1,200 metres in five minutes from Sanroku Station, and that you then change to a mini cable car for the summit, at 531 metres.[7] SkyGate says both run every 15 minutes, the ropeway ride takes about 5 minutes and the mini cable car about 10, and the return journey is on one ticket.[6] The city tourism site says Sapporo was named one of Japan's three great city night views, alongside Nagasaki and Kobe, at an October 2015 summit, and describes the summit observatory as a spot for looking over the city lights.[7] Opening hours are not confirmed: the operator's page returned an error when XTOUR tried it, and SkyGate says hours change with season, weather and maintenance. SkyGate says to redeem the QR code at the 4th-floor ticket counter at Sanroku Station, and mentions a free shuttle bus from the Tram Ropeway Entrance Station, with a timetable on the operator's site.[6]

XTOUR's reading: if you want a quick city view close to Odori Park, the TV Tower is the shorter visit; if you want the higher of the two towers, T38 is the one, and SkyGate describes it as part of the JR Tower complex connected to Sapporo Station;[3] if you want to look at the city from a mountain rather than from a building, and can confirm the hours, choose the Moiwa ticket. Both tower operators publish evening hours, which is why they are the safer picks for a night view on the information available.

Hokkaido Museum, Historical Village, or both

These two neighbouring venues are run by different bodies: the Hokkaido Museum by Hokkaido Prefecture and the Historical Village by the Hokkaido Historical Culture Foundation.[12][9] SkyGate sells them as two overlapping products. The Hokkaido Museum Ticket has four options, and the Historical Village of Hokkaido Kaitaku no mura Ticket has three; the combination options appear in both.[11][8]

What differs is the single-venue option.

  • The Hokkaido Museum Ticket's two single-venue options, Admission and Admission (High School and University Students), have option text that names the special exhibition on the Ainu people living along the Saru River.[8] The text does not say the permanent main exhibition is included, and the museum's operator says a special exhibition carries a separate fee from the main exhibition hall.[9] Special exhibition dates are not in the sources.
  • The two combination options in either product name the main exhibition hall and one admission to the village.[11][8] The museum's main exhibition follows five themes, including Hokkaido's 1.2-million-year story and the culture and recent history of the Ainu.[9]
  • The Historical Village of Hokkaido Kaitaku no mura Ticket's first option is village-only. SkyGate describes 52 restored and reconstructed buildings from the late 1860s to the 1920s, in town, fishing, farming and mountain areas.[11] The operator describes 54.2 hectares of relocated buildings from the Meiji to early Showa periods.[12] SkyGate adds an on-site extra charge for the horse-drawn tram or sled, which can be suspended for weather or ground conditions.[11]

XTOUR's reading: choose a museum-only option only if the special exhibition is your reason to go; for the permanent story of Hokkaido, or to see the village, take a combination option from either product, since both list it.

Hours differ. The museum gives 9:30 to 17:00 from May to September and 9:30 to 16:30 from October to April, closed Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a holiday) and from 29 December to 3 January.[9] The village gives 9:00 to 17:00 from May to September, when the operator lists no closing day, and 9:00 to 16:30 from October to April, closed Mondays except holidays. The museum's operator says to enter at least 30 minutes before closing, and the village's operator gives last entry as 16:30 in the May-to-September period and 16:00 in the October-to-April period.[9][12]

The museum's operator gives a bus from Shin-Sapporo Station bus terminal, stop 10 in the north lane, on the JR Hokkaido Bus "Shin 22" for the Historical Village, getting off at Hokkaido Museum after a 15-minute ride.[10] The village's operator gives the same terminal and lane with a ride of about 20 minutes to the end of the line. Both operators list free entry for people aged 65 and over, and SkyGate's adult ticket types for these products stop at 64.[9][11][8][12] SkyGate says student options need a valid student ID, and its village page asks for valid ID to verify age on entry.[11][8]

Which Noboribetsu venue

The marine park is described here only from SkyGate, because its operator's site did not open securely when XTOUR tried it; the other two have operator pages.

The Hokkaido Noboribetsu Bear Park Ticket has one option: admission plus a return ropeway ride.[13] The operator says the park sits atop a 550-metre mountain, seven minutes by ropeway from the Noboribetsu Onsen district, and lists Ezo brown bears, a bear feeding experience, an educational event called Bear Athletics, a Duck Race, a Brown Bear Museum that it calls the world's only, Yukar Village on Ainu culture, and the Lake Kuttara Observatory.[14] SkyGate's option text does not say which of the feeding or event sessions are included beyond general admission, so treat those as unconfirmed.[13] The operator's hours are seasonal: from 21 April to 20 October ticket sales open at 9:00 and close at 16:20 with the park closing at 17:00, and from 21 October to 20 April sales open at 9:30 and close at 15:50 with the park closing at 16:30.[14]

According to SkyGate, the Hokkaido Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura Village is an Edo-period theme park with a ninja show and an oiran dance.[15] The operator lists four rotating shows: a ninja show of 20 minutes, an oiran show of 30 minutes, a comedy show of 25 minutes and an outdoor action show of 15 minutes on the summer timetable, with a samurai show replacing the comedy from 4 November. The operator gives 9:00 to 17:00 in summer and 9:00 to 16:00 in winter, open daily, and says it is closed 8 to 11 March 2027 for maintenance. The operator gives a 6-minute bus ride from JR Noboribetsu Station.[16] SkyGate's two options are Admission and Admission (Toddler 4-5 years old), the latter booked as a Child ticket; its text names a ninja show and an oiran dance. SkyGate gives last admission as one hour before closing.[15]

The Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe Ticket is for an aquarium, which Wikidata describes as an aquarium in Noboribetsu.[18] SkyGate's description names Nixe Castle with around 20,000 creatures from about 400 species, an Aqua Tunnel, touch pools, dolphin and fur seal performances, a sardine feeding show and a 15-minute penguin parade held daily. The two options are Admission (International Travellers) and Admission (Japanese Nationals), the second valid for Japanese nationals only. Hours and show times are not confirmed: SkyGate tells you to check the official website for opening hours, closures and the show schedule, and gives last admission as 30 minutes before closing.[17]

XTOUR's reading: the bear park is the choice if the mountain ropeway and Ainu culture exhibits are the draw, Date Jidaimura if you want scheduled stage shows in one place, and the marine park if you want an aquarium, with the caveat that its show times are unverified.
