A limestone cave in Mine, Yamaguchi, at the southern foot of Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, with a walking course of about 1 km.

Why go

Akiyoshido is a limestone cave in Akiyoshi, Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, at the southern foot of Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park. The Akiyoshidai park's own site describes it as one of Japan's largest limestone caves, designated a Special Natural Monument, with a sightseeing course of about 1 km and a constant temperature of about 17 degrees Celsius year-round, formed as rain falling on the limestone plateau dissolves rock underground. The same site notes the cave can be visited at any time except during heavy rain.
