Why go

Al Badiyah Mosque, also called Al Bidya Mosque or the Ottoman Mosque, is a small mosque on the coast road between Dibba and Khor Fakkan, in the village of Al Badiyah in the Emirate of Fujairah. Fujairah Tourism describes its roof of four domes, each built as three stacked domes, carried on a single central column without timber. Fujairah Tourism dates the mosque to about 1599 from uranium-thorium dating of foundation samples in a 2017 study, while the UAE Ministry of Culture's page cites carbon-14 dating from the 1997-98 excavation season placing its construction in 1446; the two sources disagree. The Ministry's page says prayers are held in the mosque, and Fujairah Tourism, which lists it among Fujairah's culture and heritage destinations with visiting hours, says it was restored and officially reopened in March 2003. Visitor rules such as dress and prayer times were not found on an official page.
