Beppu Tower

別府タワー

A 100-metre observation tower on Beppu's Kitahama waterfront that the operator says opened in 1957 and is a registered tangible cultural property.

Why go

Beppu Tower stands at 3-10-2 Kitahama, Beppu, Oita. According to its operator it is 100 metres tall, opened in 1957, is the third tower built in Japan, and is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. The observation deck, named the Sea, Mountain and Hot Spring Town Observation Deck, is on the 16th floor at 55 metres and gives 360-degree views over Beppu Bay and the city. The Beppu Art Museum occupies the second floor of the same building, so it is part of this venue rather than a separate place. Hours and closures are on the operator's site.
