Hakone Komagatake Ropeway

箱根駒ヶ岳ロープウェー

A cable car from Hakone-en beside Lake Ashi up to the summit of Mount Komagatake in Hakone.

Why go

The Hakone Komagatake Ropeway is a cable car that rises from Hakone-en Station on the shore of Lake Ashi to the summit station on Mount Komagatake in Hakone, Kanagawa. The operator, Prince Hotels, says the ride takes about seven minutes and that the summit viewing area was renewed in April 2025 as Ashi no Sora, with a deck, a photo frame framing Mount Fuji and a station building. OpenStreetMap's summit-station node gives a start date of 27 April 1963. The operator lists a first ascent at 9:00 and services every 20 minutes on the page read, and says services can stop in bad weather.
