Why go
Ilgaz Mountain National Park straddles the border of Kastamonu and Çankırı provinces in the western Black Sea hinterland and was declared in 1976. The Nature Conservation and National Parks directorate (DKMP) describes a visitor centre, a lodge, a hotel and ski lifts, with winter tourism since the 1990s. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Kültür Portalı, the Ankara–Çankırı–Kastamonu state highway passes through the park, and sport fishing is allowed from 15 June to 15 September. Brown bears, wolves and lynx live in the park.
Getting there
The Ankara–Çankırı–Kastamonu state highway passes through the park (Kültür Portalı). The map point is the middle of the park; the park gate and visitor centre have no published coordinate. DKMP 2026 fees for Turkish visitors: ₺65 per person / ₺195 per car on the Kastamonu side, ₺55 / ₺165 on the Çankırı side; which applies depends on the gate, which is not stated.
