Jumeirah Mosque

مسجد جميرا

Jumeirah Mosque is the mosque on Jumeirah Beach Road in Jumeirah 1, Dubai, opened in 1979, where the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding runs guided visits open to non-Muslim guests.

Why go

Jumeirah Mosque on Jumeirah Beach Road opened in 1979 as a gift from the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and its site says it can hold about 1,500 worshippers. Guided visits are the flagship of the 'Open Doors. Open Minds.' programme of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), which publishes the mosque's site. The public visit page says no advance booking is required and that registration takes place at the Centre's majlis before the presentation; private visits are arranged separately. The mosque's dress-code page says modest clothing is required, that women's clothing should cover arms, legs and hair, and that robes and headscarves are provided for visitors who need them. Session times, visiting days and the admission charge are on the Centre's pages and are not repeated here.
