Milan Cathedral
Duomo di Milano
Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano) is the Catholic cathedral on Piazza del Duomo in central Milan, cared for by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo.
Why go
Milan Cathedral is the Gothic cathedral church of Milan on Piazza del Duomo; the Fabbrica's history page says construction probably began in 1386. The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, founded in 1387, describes itself as the institution responsible for the cathedral's conservation, and its site sells the visit tickets. The Fabbrica presents the cathedral as part of a Historical Complex that also includes the Terraces, the Archaeological Area and the Duomo Museum; this record is the cathedral itself, not the museum or the terraces. The Fabbrica's regulation page says visitors go through security checks at the access gates and that helmets, glass objects and suitcases cannot be taken into the cathedral, and its booking page says large bags are not allowed inside and warns against unofficial ticket sellers, recommending the official channels and its list of authorised resellers. Opening times and ticket types are set by the Fabbrica and change, so check its site before you go.
