Mount Rinjani

Gunung Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is a volcano on Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, 3,726 m high according to the national park authority, with the crater lake Segara Anak in its caldera.

Why go

The Balai Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani, which manages the national park around it, says Mount Rinjani is on Lombok and gives its height as 3,726 m. The authority's history page says the caldera is largely filled by the crescent-shaped lake Segara Anak and that a newer cone, Gunung Barujari, rose in the middle of it. The authority's FAQ says its eRinjani application is only for booking climbs of Mount Rinjani; its notice of 1 September 2026 says nature tourism in the park was then opened only on a limited basis to prevent forest fires, with eRinjani booking suspended until the fire risk is declared safe, and its news list carries an item of 23 September 2026 announcing the temporary closure of the Torean climbing route. Indonesia's volcano-monitoring portal MAGMA lists Rinjani in East Lombok Regency and publishes its current activity level. This record is the volcano; Mount Rinjani National Park is a separate record, and the map point is the summit, which stands for the whole mountain and is not a trailhead.
