Mount Rinjani National Park

Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani

Mount Rinjani National Park (Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani) is the national park around Mount Rinjani on Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, covering 41,330 ha in three regencies according to its managing authority.

Why go

The park is managed by the Balai Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani, a technical unit of the national ministry's conservation directorate-general (KSDAE), whose office is in Mataram. The authority's pages say the area was first a wildlife reserve in 1941, was announced as a national park in 1990 and was established by a 2005 ministerial decree with a definitive area of 41,330 ha across three regencies of Lombok. The authority's attractions page lists the crater lake Segara Anak, the Barujari cone and the Senaru climbing route in North Lombok. The FAQ says the eRinjani application is only for booking climbs of Mount Rinjani, and a notice of 1 September 2026 says nature tourism was then opened only on a limited basis to prevent forest fires, with eRinjani booking suspended until the risk is declared safe. This record is the protected area; Mount Rinjani itself is a separate record, and the map point is the middle of the park boundary, not an entrance.
