Why go

Teide is a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands; this record is the volcano, not Teide National Park around it, and its map point is the summit, which stands for the mountain and is not a place XTOUR sends anyone. Spain's national parks network describes Teide-Pico Viejo as a stratovolcano rising inside the Las Cañadas caldera, and the park's trail sheet puts the summit at 3,715 m. The park's page for trail PNT 10 (Telesforo Bravo), the path from La Rambleta to the summit, says it may only be walked with a prior reservation, and that reaching its start on foot instead of by cable car needs an additional authorisation. The park's technical sheet says Teide National Park was created on 22 January 1954 and inscribed as a UNESCO natural World Heritage property on 2 July 2007.
