Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée (Mucem)
The Mucem is the national museum of European and Mediterranean civilisations on Marseille's waterfront, with Fort Saint-Jean as one of its sites.
The Mucem, the Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée, inherited the collections of the Musée d'Ethnographie du Trocadéro and the Musée National des Arts et Traditions Populaires and, since 2005, has built its ethnographic holdings around Europe and the Mediterranean. Its own site lists three sites: J4 and Fort Saint-Jean, the two exhibition venues, and a Conservation and Resource Centre at 1 Rue Clovis Hugues, 13003 Marseille with free admission. Fort Saint-Jean is part of the Mucem and offers permanent and temporary exhibitions, with free admission to its outdoor areas according to the museum. Opening hours and closure dates are on the museum's own site and are not repeated here.
