Tate Modern
Tate Modern is Tate's gallery of modern and contemporary art at Bankside, in the London Borough of Southwark.
Why go
Tate Modern is one of Tate's four art museums, with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives; the UK government's page on Tate says it holds the national collection of British art from 1500 and international modern and contemporary art. Tate Modern's own page says it shows paintings, sculpture and large-scale installations, with the Turbine Hall and the underground Tanks, a space for live performance and video. The page says entry to the collection is free for everyone and that booking is recommended for exhibitions, which members enter without booking. It names the Turbine Hall ramp and the Blavatnik Building as the ways in, says bags are checked on arrival and says items larger than cabin-bag size are not allowed in the building. This record is the gallery, not the former Bankside Power Station building.
