Tomb of Emperor Khải Định

Lăng Khải Định · Ứng Lăng

The Tomb of Emperor Khải Định (Lăng Khải Định, also Ứng Lăng) is a Nguyễn royal tomb on a pine-covered hill in Thủy Xuân ward of the Huế municipality, with a concrete façade and mosaic interiors.

Why go

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism describes Khải Định's tomb as a series of platforms climbing a pine-covered hill rather than a flat landscaped esplanade, with Chinese, Vietnamese, French and Cambodian architectural influences, a white concrete façade and mosaics and murals inside. On its page on the Huế monuments, World Heritage since 1993, Vietnam's Department of Cultural Heritage places the Nguyễn royal tombs west of the citadel on both banks of the Perfume River. This record is the tomb, not the emperor, and it is not part of the Imperial City despite what Wikidata states. XTOUR lists it as a place reached from Huế, not as a place in the city centre; tickets, opening and the managing body were not read, because the heritage centre's site did not answer.
