Figures are the Turkish State Meteorological Service's long-run statistics for its Nevşehir station, period 1959-2025. Summer is nearly rainless and winter is cold with frequent precipitation. The station is in Nevşehir and is not necessarily representative of the valleys around Göreme or Zelve.

The Turkish State Meteorological Service's statistics for its Nevşehir station (1959-2025) describe a dry summer and a cold winter. July and August average daily highs of 28.5°C and 28.7°C with about 9 mm of rain a month; the record high is 39.5°C in July. April to June and September to October are milder: average highs are 16.0°C in April, 20.6°C in May, 24.9°C in June, 24.5°C in September and 18.3°C in October, but May has about 13 rainy days and 58 mm of rain. From December to February average highs are 6.2°C, 4.0°C and 5.5°C, average lows fall below freezing, the station has recorded -23.6°C in February and a snow depth of 64 cm (2 February 1992). Opening hours also change with the season: the Ministry extended closing times at Göreme, Kaymaklı, Zelve-Paşabağları and Derinkuyu to 20:00 for 1 May to 1 October 2026, and its regular winter schedule for these sites is not published on the pages read. The station is in Nevşehir, not in the valleys, and the MGM page gives no elevation for it.
