Why go
Visit Al Ain says the palace was built in 1937 and expanded by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was first a home of the Ruling Family and a seat of government, and became a museum in 2001. According to the same page, the museum presents Emirati life in the 20th century and the architecture of the Transition Period of the 1930s to 1960s, with the family tree of the Al Nahyan rulers and a large tent recalling Bedouin hospitality. The museum's page on Abu Dhabi Culture announces that it would temporarily close on 1 July 2024 for a renovation project and gives no reopening date; the notice was still there when the page was read on 11 October 2026. Visit Al Ain's page describes the museum without mentioning the closure. Wikidata labels it 'Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum'; this record is the museum, not the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi.
