Why go
This record is Al Noor Island, the island in Khalid Lagoon developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) as a leisure destination combining nature and art, not Al Noor Mosque across the water. The operator's launch article describes a 45,470 square metre island with a butterfly house, a Literature Pavilion, a children's playground and commissioned art sculptures, with a pedestrian bridge as its entrance, and says the Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated it in December 2015. Visit Sharjah says the pedestrian bridge behind Al Noor Mosque connects the car-free island to the mainland. The operator's site offers passes and bookings online; prices and hours are not given here.
