Why go

This record is Bait Al Naboodah, a house museum in Al Mareija in the Heart of Sharjah, opposite Souq Al Arsah. The Sharjah Museums Authority says the house belonged to Obaid bin Eissa bin Ali Al Shamsi, known as Al Naboodah, a pearl merchant with trade ties to India, Africa and France, who lived there with his family; the two-storey house, built in 1845, is arranged around a large courtyard with coral walls and has teak columns. The museum first opened in 1995 and reopened on 8 April 2018 after restoration. It is one of the five museums on the authority's Heritage Joint Ticket, and the authority says tickets are available at those museums.
