Aslamazyan Sisters Gallery

Ասլամազյան քույրերի պատկերասրահ · Gallery of Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters

A gallery in a 19th-century townhouse on Abovyan Street in Gyumri, opened in 1987 to show the paintings, graphic works and ceramics of the sisters Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan.

Why go

The collection is unusually personal: the sisters themselves donated the works, now more than 620 originals, and painted bowls, dishes and candlesticks are shown alongside canvases and prints, so the gallery reads as a portrait of two careers rather than a general art museum. After the 1988 earthquake the building was handed over for a time to people left homeless, before it became a gallery again. It is an easy stop on a walk through central Gyumri and suits visitors interested in Armenian painting and ceramics.
