Tourism Selangor describes it as one of Malaysia's most visited attractions: a hill with three major caves and several smaller ones, a temple about 100 years old with idols and statues inside the main caves and around them, and limestone formations said to be around 400 million years old. Tourism Selangor calls it an important religious landmark for Hindus. OpenStreetMap maps the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple, the Lord Murugan statue, the Ramayana Cave and the Dark Cave within the complex. Batu Caves station on the KTM Komuter line is next to the site.
