Da Nang Cathedral
Nhà thờ Chính tòa Đà Nẵng
Da Nang Cathedral, also known as the Rooster Church, is the Gothic-style Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Da Nang in Hải Châu, built in 1923.
Why go
Da Nang Cathedral is the Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Da Nang, on Trần Phú Street in Hải Châu ward. Da Nang's tourism promotion centre says it was built in 1923 under the priest Louis Vallet in the Gothic style, that it has been the diocese's cathedral officially since 1963, and that it is also known as Tourane Church and the Rooster Church after the cockerel on its spire. The same page notes a grotto of the Virgin Mary behind the church, modelled on the grotto at Lourdes. Vietnam's national tourism site describes the building as pink. The record is the church building, not the diocese (Wikidata Q74723). It is a working church; mass times and visiting rules are the parish's and are not stated here.
