Marble Mountains (Ngũ Hành Sơn)
Ngũ Hành Sơn
The Marble Mountains (Ngũ Hành Sơn) are a group of limestone and marble hills with caves and pagodas in Ngũ Hành Sơn ward, south-east Da Nang.
Why go
The Marble Mountains are a cluster of hills in south-east Da Nang that the city's tourism promotion centre describes as a scenic area of six peaks: Thủy Sơn, Kim Sơn, Hỏa Sơn (counted as Dương Hỏa Sơn and Âm Hỏa Sơn), Thổ Sơn and Mộc Sơn. Vietnam's national tourism site counts five hills; the difference is in how Hỏa Sơn is counted. Thủy Sơn holds many of the caves and pagodas, among them Huyền Không and Âm Phủ caves and the Tam Thai and Linh Ứng pagodas; the pagodas are active places of worship, and this record is the hills, not the pagodas. According to the tourism centre, visitors to Thủy Sơn buy tickets at Gate 01 or Gate 02, and a lift up the hill needs its own ticket. Fees and opening times are set by the site and are not repeated here.
