Why go

This record is the ruin, not Stift Dürnstein in the town and not Burg Dürnstein in Styria. The regional tourism board's page says the castle was built between 1140 and 1145, that it was the castle Hadmar of Kuenring had built, and that Duke Leopold V held the English king Richard the Lionheart prisoner there in 1192 and 1193, after Richard tore up the Austrian flag on his return from the crusade and refused to share the spoils of war; it adds that Richard was set free after a ransom of 150,000 marks of silver and that the singer's entertainment probably gave rise to the legend of the minstrel Blondel. The listing names the town of Dürnstein (Stadtgemeinde Dürnstein) as the contact.
