Hyde Park
Hyde Park is one of London's Royal Parks, in the City of Westminster, with the Serpentine lake and Speaker's Corner.
Why go
Hyde Park is one of the Royal Parks in London, managed by The Royal Parks, a registered charity. The Royal Parks' page on the park says the Serpentine lake lies at its heart, with the Lido and its swimming club, and that Speaker's Corner is where radicals and revolutionaries from Karl Marx to George Orwell have come to have their say. It says the Great Exhibition of 1851 was held in the park and that sports pitches now occupy the site where the Crystal Palace stood. The page also mentions the meadows in the north of the park, the rose garden and Rotten Row, and says the park hosts major events, from summer concerts to Winter Wonderland. This record is Hyde Park, not Kensington Gardens, which The Royal Parks lists as a separate park; its map point is the middle of the park's outline, not a gate.
