Kaiservilla
Kaiservilla
The Kaiservilla is the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth in Bad Ischl, shown by guided tour, with its park.
Why go
This record is the villa, run by Kaiservilla GmbH; its park and the Marmorschlössl are part of the estate and are not separate records here. The villa's history page says the former Eltz villa was Archduchess Sophie's gift to Franz Joseph and Elisabeth after their engagement, that it became the emperor's official summer residence from 1854, and that Antonio Legrenzi rebuilt it between 1855 and 1858 into its present E-shaped form. The operator's visitor page says entry to the villa includes a guided tour, that tours in English, French, Italian or Spanish are given only to booked groups while individual visitors get a free audio guide, and that photography and filming inside the house are prohibited.
