Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park

อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์กำแพงเพชร

Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park is the Fine Arts Department's park over the ancient town of Kamphaeng Phet, on the east bank of the Ping River in Mueang Kamphaeng Phet District.

Why go

The Fine Arts Department's English page gives the park as 3.34 square kilometres in two areas: the rampart area, about 503 rai inside the ancient town's moat and laterite rampart, and the Aranyik area, about 1,611 rai on a gravel hill outside the northern rampart. It says the park was officially opened on 18 April 1991 and inscribed that year, with the Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai historical parks, as a World Heritage property. The Department gives the park's location as the Kamphaeng Phet–Sukhothai road in Nong Pling subdistrict. This record is the park, not the World Heritage designation or the modern town.
