Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Κεραμεικού · Κεραμεικός
Kerameikos is the archaeological site of the ancient cemetery of Athens, with the Dipylon and the Sacred Gate and a site museum, on Ermou Street in Athens.
Why go
Hellenic Heritage describes Kerameikos as the place where the procession of the Eleusinian Mysteries started through the Sacred Gate, the site of the Dipylon gateway and a burial ground used from the Early Bronze Age until the 6th century AD, and lists it as an archaeological site with a museum. The Ministry of Culture's Odysseus page says one ticket is valid for the archaeological site and the museum of Kerameikos and is sold at the site and online through tickets.hh.gr, the Ministry's official e-ticketing service. The official ticket store's page says entry is timed, a ticket may be changed up to two hours before the visit and tickets are not refundable. This record is the fenced archaeological site at 148 Ermou Street, not the modern neighbourhood of the same name.
