Why go

The Leopold Museum is an art museum at Museumsplatz 1 in the MuseumsQuartier, in Vienna's 7th district. The museum's history page says its holdings go back to the collection that the ophthalmologists Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold assembled from the 1950s, most of which passed in 1994 to the newly founded Leopold Museum Private Foundation, and that the collection moved in 2001 into a building designed for it by the architects Laurids and Manfred Ortner; it names Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt among the artists collected. Its visitor questions page says the permanent presentation is devoted to Vienna 1900, with changing special exhibitions alongside, that audio tours are offered for the permanent presentation, and that groups of more than 10 people can currently visit only after confirmed registration. This record is the museum, not the MuseumsQuartier complex around it.
