Why go
The Loreley is a slate rock on the Rhine near Sankt Goarshausen; Loreley Touristik gives its height as 125 metres (193.14 metres above sea level) at Rhine kilometre 555, on the inside of a narrow bend in the river. The tourism company notes the legends and myths attached to the rock and to the line 'Ich weiß nicht, was soll es bedeuten'; this record is the rock, not the legend. On the plateau on top, its pages list a culture and landscape park with the Mythoshalle, a tourist information centre with an exhibition, the Loreley open-air stage and a statue of the Loreley figure, with a second statue at the foot of the rock. Wikidata places the rock in the municipality of Bornich, and Loreley Touristik GmbH gives its own address as Loreley 7, Bornich. The rock is within the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage area, a designation that is not this record.
