Why go

The Museo Correr is a civic museum on St Mark's Square, run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia. The museum's history page says it takes its name from the collector Teodoro Correr (1750-1830), who left his collection to the city, that it opened as early as 1836, and that since 1922 it has occupied the Napoleonic Wing and part of the Procuratie Nuove. Its visitor page lists, among its tickets, the St Mark's Square Museums ticket, a single ticket valid for the Doge's Palace, the Museo Correr, the National Archaeological Museum of Venice and the Monumental Rooms of the Marciana National Library. The same page gives the public entrance as the monumental staircase of the Napoleonic Wing on Piazza San Marco. Opening days and hours are set by the museum and change, so check its site before you go.
