National Botanical Garden of Georgia

საქართველოს ეროვნული ბოტანიკური ბაღი · Tbilisi Botanical Garden · National Botanical Garden

A botanical garden of more than 3,500 plant species in the Tsavkisistskali river gorge below Narikala, reached by a steep climb from Tbilisi's sulphur baths.

Why go

The garden follows a stream through a ravine in the old city, and the path along it leads to the Tsavkisistskali waterfall, which a wooden bridge built in 1898 looks straight onto. Georgia's tourism administration dates the grounds back four centuries, with 180 years as a botanical garden, and there is also a natural rock face within the gardens used for climbing. The main gate is on Botanikuri Street, up the lane from the baths, which makes the garden an easy addition to a morning around Narikala and Abanotubani.
