Batumi

Georgia’s main Black Sea city combines a long seafront boulevard, subtropical greenery, historic streets, bold modern architecture, regional Ajarian food and easy access to the mountains, waterfalls and fortresses of Adjara.

Best time

May to June and September are excellent for combining sightseeing with comfortable seaside weather and generally lighter crowds. July and August are the main beach season, with warmer sea temperatures, higher humidity and the largest visitor numbers. Batumi is also a viable year-round city break, but rain is possible in every season.

Recommended stay

3–4 days for Batumi itself, or 5–7 days if you want to include beaches and several day trips into the wider Adjara region.
