Nordkette Cable Car
Nordkettenbahn
The Nordkette cable car is the two-section aerial cableway in Innsbruck from the Hungerburg up to the Seegrube and on to the Hafelekar, run by Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen; the Hungerburgbahn funicular links it to the city centre.
Why go
Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen Betriebs GmbH says its lifts consist of three sections: the Hungerburgbahn funicular from the city centre to the Hungerburg, the Seegrubenbahn cable car from the Hungerburg to the Seegrube at 1,905 m, and the Hafelekarbahn from the Seegrube to the Hafelekar at 2,334 m. The operator describes a short walk across Hermann-Buhl-Platz from the funicular's Hungerburg station to the Seegrubenbahn valley station, which is this record's point. It says the Nordkette is part of the Karwendel Nature Park and that restaurants operate at the Seegrube and on the Hafelekar. This record is the two aerial cable car sections; the Hungerburgbahn funicular (Wikidata Q1370993) and the Nordkette range are not part of it. The operator publishes a current timetable on its site; check it before a visit.
