Pico do Arieiro
Pico do Arieiro · Pico do Areeiro
Pico do Arieiro (also spelled Pico do Areeiro) is a 1,818-metre peak in the central mountains of Madeira and the start of the PR1 Vereda do Areeiro trail to Pico Ruivo.
Why go
Visit Madeira gives the summit's altitude as 1,818 metres and says the view takes in Madeira's central mountain massif with the Atlantic beyond, as well as Ponta de São Lourenço, Curral das Freiras and, on clear days, the island of Porto Santo. It says the PR1 Vereda do Areeiro trail starts here and runs by Pico das Torres to Pico Ruivo; the trail is a separate route and not part of this record. This record is the summit, and its map point is the mapped peak, not the car park or the start of the trail.
