Why go

This record is the monastery complex in Sankt Florian, not a building in Linz. The monastery's site (in German) says the Augustinian Canons, a community of priests serving in pastoral care, have worked there since the reform of the existing monastery in 1071, and names its Baroque rooms, the 'Bruckner organ' and a library of 160,000 volumes. It says the state rooms, including the library, the Marble Hall and the Altdorfer altar, can be seen only on a guided tour; the tours visit the basilica with the Bruckner organ and the crypt with Anton Bruckner's sarcophagus, and an audio guide covers the courtyard, the basilica and the prelates' corridor for visitors on their own. Group and other tours are offered year-round with advance registration.
