Why go
Tabatskuri holds some 221 million cubic metres of water, according to the national tourism administration (GNTA). It lies at about 2,000 metres, fed by snow, rain and groundwater, and freezes over completely from the end of December to the end of March. Tabatskuri village stands on a small peninsula on the shore, in an area GNTA places within the Ktsia-Tabatskuri protected area, and horses graze the open ground around the water. The lake spans the boundary between Borjomi and Akhalkalaki municipalities.
