Zonguldak grew up on hard coal, and this museum tells that story. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Zonguldak directorate, it opened on 9 December 2016 on a 6,932.79 m² site in the Çınartepe neighbourhood, next to a training mine belonging to the state coal company TTK. Its floors cover the relationship between coal and the city, the history and techniques of mining, safety equipment, health and social care, coal derivatives, fossils and how coal forms. The museum is closed on Mondays and charges an entry fee. Its published opening hours differ between the Ministry's portal and the museum's own pages, so XTOUR does not state them; check the museum before going.
