Batonistsikhe

Batonistsikhe secret tunnel

A covered underground passage once connected part of the royal fortress complex with a secret exit, illustrating how seriously the Kakhetian court prepared for invasion.

Natural landmark

Telavi Giant Plane Tree

The enormous chadari tree beside the royal complex is one of Telavi's best-known landmarks. Traditionally estimated at about nine centuries old, it rises more than 40 metres and has a trunk circumference of roughly 11–12 metres.

Accessibility: Easy to see without hiking.

Telavi Bazaar

The main regional market of Kakheti and one of the best places to see Telavi as a functioning city rather than simply a wine-tour stop. Vendors sell fruit, vegetables, spices, meat, dairy, cheeses, churchkhela, sauces, preserves and everyday household goods.

Booking: Visit in the morning when trade is most active.

Accessibility: Expect crowds, narrow aisles and potentially wet or uneven flooring.

Nadikvari Park
