Quick answer
According to SkyGate's listings read on 29 September 2026, the Half-Day Morning Snorkeling Tour with Phantom Island Visit is the water option, the Ishigaki Yaima Village Ticket admits you to a cultural theme park on land, and the Ishigaki Island Stargazing Experience is an hour-long guided night session. The Miyakojima Undersea Park Ticket is for a park on Miyako Island, according to SkyGate's address, so it suits a different trip.
Three Ishigaki activities, and one on another island
Three of these four SkyGate products are on Ishigaki Island and each answers a different question: do you want to be on the water, on land in daylight, or under the night sky. The fourth, the Miyakojima Undersea Park Ticket, is on Miyako Island, so it only matters if Miyako is on your route. XTOUR's reading is that the three Ishigaki products are not substitutes, and that the real choice is which one your available time of day and weather tolerance allow.
Morning on the water: Half-Day Morning Snorkeling Tour with Phantom Island Visit
This is the only product here that puts you on a boat. SkyGate's itinerary starts with registering at the Kariyushi Ishigaki Island shop at 8:30 AM and heading to the departure port, lands on Phantom Island at 9:30 AM for photos, snorkels a coral reef point from 10:30 AM, and ends back at the port at 12:00 PM. SkyGate describes Phantom Island as a white sandbar off Ishigaki, and lists snorkelling gear, insurance and an instructor in the price.[1]
The listing shows guide languages of Japanese and English, and a booking needs a minimum of two people. SkyGate's option data gives ages 13 to 80 for adults and 4 to 12 for children, and its page says participants must be in good physical and mental health and should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and beach sandals.[1]
Two things stay unknown. SkyGate does not locate the shop or the departure port, and it does not name the operator, so confirm the meeting point before you plan the morning around it. The page also says locations and timings may change, or the tour may be cancelled, because of weather and sea conditions. SkyGate's cancellation table for this option refunds in full when you cancel at least eight days before the travel date and less on a sliding scale after that.[1]
Daytime on land: Ishigaki Yaima Village Ticket
The Ishigaki Yaima Village Ticket is admission to a cultural theme park, and the option is simply called Admission.[2] The operator's Japanese page describes a theme park on a hill overlooking Nagura Bay with old Yaeyama-style houses registered as national tangible cultural properties, which visitors can enter, plus a mangrove walk, a squirrel-monkey enclosure, water buffalo and a crested serpent eagle protection facility.[3] SkyGate's option text says admission covers the village, the historic houses, the mangrove walking route and Squirrel Monkey Forest.[2]
Check one detail before you rely on the monkeys. The operator says the squirrel-monkey feeding experience was suspended on 20 July 2026 and that the enclosure can still be entered, so treat feeding as not available unless the operator says otherwise. The operator also says an in-village performance of Yaeyama songs and dance is held three times a day, which SkyGate does not mention.[3]
The operator shows hours of 9:00 to 17:30, and SkyGate says last admission is 30 minutes before closing.[3] SkyGate also warns that opening hours may change, or the village may close, because of typhoons or other weather, and it marks this option as non-refundable. Children under 3 are free per SkyGate.[2] This is the product with the least dependence on the sea, and XTOUR's reading is that it is the natural fallback on a day when a boat trip is uncertain. See the Ishigaki Yaima Village page on XTOUR.
After dark: Ishigaki Island Stargazing Experience
SkyGate describes an hour with a certified stargazing guide who uses a laser pointer to identify stars, then telescope or binocular viewing, a commemorative photograph and live sanshin music. The price lists water and soft drinks, a local expert guide and digital photos, and the page adds blankets in winter and insect repellent in summer. Adults are 13 to 80 and children 4 to 12 in SkyGate's option data, and the guide language shown is Japanese.[4]
The listing is candid about the sky: SkyGate says the experience may not operate in poor weather, that cloud cover can limit visibility, and that moonlight can make fainter stars harder to see. It tells you to check the official website for operating days, but the page does not say which website, and it does not name the operator, a meeting point or a start time. The supplier address is a bus stop label, and XTOUR has not confirmed where the session is held, so it does not appear on the map as a venue. SkyGate's cancellation table gives a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the travel date.[4]
One trap: the Yaima Village operator says its own guides run night star viewing, but SkyGate's stargazing page does not name Yaima Village or any operator.[4][3] XTOUR does not treat the two as the same product, and the Yaima ticket above does not include a stargazing session. The Ishigaki City Tourism Association describes Ishigaki as well placed for star observation and runs a training course for star guides, which is context for the activity and not a statement about this product.[5]
A separate island: Miyakojima Undersea Park Ticket
The Miyakojima Undersea Park Ticket admits you to an underwater observation facility at Karimata, Hirara, on Miyako Island. The operator's site gives the same address and describes an observation facility with 24 acrylic panel windows onto the sea, which SkyGate's page also mentions.[7][6] It is a look through windows from a building, not a snorkel or a dive.
The two options are Admission and Admission (Youth: 16-18 years old). SkyGate's standard option lists adults as 19 and over and children as 6 to 15, which leaves the 16 to 18 band to the youth option, and the child rule says children five and under are free. The voucher is shown on a phone at entry, you make your own way there, and SkyGate marks both options non-refundable with a booking cut-off of 10:00 the day before.[6]
The operator and SkyGate disagree here. SkyGate's page shows 10:00 to 18:00, and so did the tourism bureau listing last updated in 2020, but the operator's Japanese site, read on 29 September 2026, shows 9:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:45 and a notice that it is running shortened hours.[6] The operator says it may close in typhoons and bad weather, and the 2020 bureau listing says it closes when the sea worsens.[7][8] The operator page governs. See the Miyakojima Marine Park page on XTOUR.
How to choose
- Want water and a sandbar: the Half-Day Morning Snorkeling Tour with Phantom Island Visit. It is the most weather-dependent and the only one with a group minimum, and its meeting point is unlocated.
- Want a dry daytime visit with houses, mangroves and animals: the Ishigaki Yaima Village Ticket. SkyGate lists no transport, and XTOUR's reading is that you make your own way.
- Want a quiet evening and can follow Japanese-language guiding: the Ishigaki Island Stargazing Experience. It depends on clouds and moonlight, and its site is not published.
- Staying on Miyako instead: the Miyakojima Undersea Park Ticket, a windowed observation facility, and only after checking the operator's current hours.
XTOUR's reading is that the snorkel tour and Yaima Village are the sturdier pair for a single Ishigaki day, since their listings say when they run. The stargazing session can sit on the same evening, and SkyGate's calendar and the operator's page decide which days exist.
Before you book
- SkyGate's options for the snorkel tour, stargazing and both Miyako tickets list adult and child age bands that differ by product; check the one you are booking.[6][4][1]
- Weather can change or cancel the snorkel tour, the stargazing session and Yaima Village's opening, per SkyGate.[2][4][1]
- Yaima Village and both Miyakojima Undersea Park options are marked non-refundable by SkyGate, so read the option before paying.[6][2]
- The operator or SkyGate page, not this guide, decides whether a date is bookable.

Frequently asked questions
Good to know
Does the Ishigaki Yaima Village Ticket include feeding the squirrel monkeys?
The operator's Japanese page, read on 29 September 2026, says the squirrel-monkey feeding experience was suspended on 20 July 2026, while visitors can still enter the squirrel-monkey enclosure. According to SkyGate, its option text names the historic houses, the mangrove walking route and Squirrel Monkey Forest.
In what language is the stargazing session guided?
SkyGate's listing for the Ishigaki Island Stargazing Experience shows Japanese as its guide language. The page does not say whether English support is available, and XTOUR has not verified it.
Is Miyakojima Undersea Park on Ishigaki?
No. According to SkyGate's address and the operator's site, the park is at Karimata, Hirara on Miyako Island, so it belongs on a Miyako itinerary, not an Ishigaki one.
What happens to the snorkelling tour if the sea is rough?
SkyGate's listing says snorkelling locations and timings may change, or the tour may be cancelled, because of weather and sea conditions, and that the itinerary is subject to change. The page does not say who decides or what is offered instead.
