Quick answer
According to SkyGate's listings read on 29 September 2026, pick one culture or history stop per area of Okinawa Island rather than stacking them: Ryukyu Village, Okinawa Experience Kingdom Murasaki Mura Ticket or Okinawa World Pass for living-culture parks; Nakijin Castle Ruins or the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters for history; the Okinawa Peace Hall for a memorial visit. The Okinawa Monorail Ticket only covers the Yui Rail line in and around Naha.
The short answer
Okinawa Island is long, and these nine products sit at three different distances from Naha, so the useful choice is one culture or history stop for each part of the island you are actually in. Around Naha, the choices are a costume studio, a wartime bunker and a monorail pass. In the south there is Okinawa World and the Okinawa Peace Hall. Up the west coast there are two Ryukyu culture parks, a castle and a viewing tower.
According to SkyGate's listings, the park tickets are admission only and hands-on activities are charged separately.[25][4]
Start with where you will be
The operators' own access pages show how far apart these stops are, so this is the quickest way to narrow the list.
- Around Naha: the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters is about 15 minutes by taxi from Naha Airport, according to the operator.[11] SkyGate's costume-studio listing gives a Makishi address in Naha.[1]
- South: the operator of Okinawa World says it is about 30 minutes from Naha Airport by car.[14] The Okinawa Peace Hall's address on SkyGate is in Mabuni, Itoman.[21]
- West coast, central: the operator of Ryukyu Village says it is about 60 minutes from Naha Airport by charter bus, taxi or rental car.[6] SkyGate's Murasaki Mura listing says 75 minutes by car from Naha Airport.[25]
- North: Nakijin Castle Ruins is about 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Naha, according to the castle's official site.[17] The Kouri Ocean Tower operator gives 90 minutes to 2 hours from Naha Airport by expressway, and says access is mainly by car.[3]
XTOUR's reading: a single day rarely holds more than one stop from the north group plus one from the centre group, so pick one from each list at most.
Ryukyu culture: three parks and a Naha studio
The three parks answer the same question in different ways, and the studio is the shortest option of the four.
Okinawa Ryukyu Village Ticket is for Ryukyu Mura in Onna: SkyGate describes red-tile-roofed traditional houses moved into the park, local sweets at a private home, photos in Ryukyu costume and folk performances such as Okinawan songs and taiko drums.[4] The operator's park map marks several of the old houses as nationally registered tangible cultural properties.[5] The operator's schedule lists an eisa show at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 and separate folk-song and dance shows through the afternoon, and says venues can change with weather or bookings.[7] This ticket is admission only: SkyGate excludes facility fees, paid experiences, transport and food, and gives last admission as 16:00.[4] Choose it for a compact, walkable village of old houses with scheduled performances.
Okinawa Experience Kingdom Murasaki Mura Ticket is for a larger experience park in Yomitan: SkyGate describes a recreated Ryukyu-era town, with 101 experience menus including 32 hands-on workshops, horse riding and go-karting.[25] The operator's site lists crafts such as blown glass, weaving and bingata, and performing arts including costume rental.[26] The admission does not include those experiences: SkyGate says the experience fees of the facilities are excluded. The second option is youth admission, titled 13 to 18 years old, while the page's student-card note mentions 16 to 18, so confirm which applies before booking.[25] Choose it if you want to make something with your hands and are happy to pay for activities on the day.
Okinawa World Pass is for Okinawa World in Nanjo, and it is the only one of the three with a cave. Both options include Gyokusendo Cave, Kingdom Village and the Habu Museum Park; the second adds one craft workshop chosen from five. SkyGate lists a daily snake and mongoose show at five times from 11:00 to 16:30, each about 20 minutes.[12] The operator suggests 3 to 5 hours in the park.[13] Choose it if you want a cave, a show and one included craft in a single south-side visit.
Ryukyu Costume Rental at Chura Bijin Ryusou Studio is a service, not a park. SkyGate describes Ryukyu-style bingata clothing, professional dressing, a hairstyle and props such as a sanshin, with staff taking photos on your own camera or phone. One option, Authentic Okinawan Dress Experience, is about 30 minutes of dressing and studio photos with two garments. The other, Ryukyu Experience and Walk, is about 15 minutes of dressing followed by a three-hour rental to explore in costume. SkyGate says the studio is closed on Sundays and that outfits run to about 165 cm for women, 190 cm for men and size 4L, with fewer choices beyond that. SkyGate's page gives the address as 3 Chome-3 Makishi, Naha, but XTOUR did not find an operator or map source confirming it, so this product has no venue pin.[1] Choose it if a costume photo is the goal and you do not want to travel to a park to get one.
History and memory: castle, bunker, hall and tower
These four are the most different from each other, so choose by mood as much as by map.
Nakijin Castle Ruins Ticket is for a hilltop castle site in the north: SkyGate describes a 13th-century gusuku on the Motobu Peninsula with the restored Heirō Gate, stone walls and views towards the sea.[15] The castle's official site places it about 100 metres above sea level and says it was the stronghold of the northern kingdom of Hokuzan until the Chuzan forces defeated it in 1416, a date the page notes some accounts give as 1422.[18][17] It is one of the components of UNESCO's Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu, inscribed in 2000.[20][19] SkyGate says the ruins have continuous stone steps and are difficult with wheelchairs and pushchairs, while the history and culture centre has a lift.[15] The official site says eating is not allowed inside the castle, and that car park 1 has been closed from 1 September 2026, with car parks 2 to 4 in use.[16] Volunteer guides can be asked for at the ticket window.[17] Redemption is at the Mogiri Hut in front of the Heirō Gate, per SkyGate. The two options are Admission and Student Admission, the latter for junior and senior high school students aged 12 to 18 only.[15] Choose it for the kingdom-era story and open-air walking.
Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters Ticket is the bunker, and it is the closest of the four to Naha: the operator's English page says the last stage of the war made the site the Japanese Navy's underground headquarters, and to plan 30 to 40 minutes for the museum and the tunnel complex, and its visitor centre has a photo exhibition on the Battle of Okinawa.[10][9] The operator warns that the tunnel entrance has stairs, and that wheelchair visitors are directed to the exit slope and should check and reserve in advance.[11] The operator's page lists a discount for "Monorail 1 day pass user", but SkyGate's page does not say whether the SkyGate Okinawa Monorail Ticket qualifies, so treat that as unconfirmed. The operator's own pages give different opening hours, so confirm on the day.[11][9] SkyGate's option is marked non-refundable.[8] Choose it for a short, sober visit that fits around Naha.
The Okinawa Peace Hall Ticket is for a memorial hall in the south, run by the Okinawa Association.[22] The operator describes a seated peace figure about 12 metres high and 8 metres wide, made in the Okinawan tsuikin lacquer technique.[23] SkyGate's option says it includes admission to the Peace Hall, but does not say whether the art gallery or butterfly garden, which the operator lists as separate facilities, are covered.[21][22] The operator gives 9:00 to 17:00, open all year, with temporary closures for weather.[24] Choose it if you want a reflective stop rather than an exhibition of objects, and pair it with Okinawa World if you are already in the south, since both are south-side stops.
Kouri Ocean Tower Ticket is the odd one out: a view, not a history site, and SkyGate describes an 82-metre tower reached by an automated cart of about eight minutes through a subtropical garden, with indoor viewing floors, a rooftop Ocean Deck and the Kouri Island Museum. The option description says the Shell Museum is included, and the operator says it holds more than 10,000 shells.[3] SkyGate says the Ocean Deck may close in some weather, that last admission is 30 minutes before closing, and marks the option non-refundable.[2] Choose it as an add-on to a northern day. The tower and Nakijin Castle Ruins both have Nakijin addresses on SkyGate, but XTOUR has not established the drive time between them.[15][2]
Getting around: is the monorail pass worth adding
The Okinawa Monorail Ticket is a rail entitlement, not a place: SkyGate describes unlimited rides on all 19 Yui Rail stations, from Naha Airport to Tedako-Uranishi, for one day within service hours, plus retail coupons for Okinawa Outlet Mall Ashibinaa and Iias Okinawa Toyosaki.[27] The operator's station list also names 19 stations.[28] SkyGate says the line passes the Shureimon Gate and Shurijo Castle, but it does not claim admission to either. SkyGate says the ticket runs from the start until the end of service on the same calendar day, whereas the operator's own one-day pass, sold at stations, is valid for 24 hours from purchase.[29][27] They are different products, so the SkyGate terms are the ones that apply to this ticket.
The pass covers Naha and Urasoe only. The operator of the Navy bunker lists a route by monorail and bus, and the Okinawa World operator lists buses from beside Asahibashi station, so the monorail is the start of those trips rather than the whole of them.[14][11] The parks and castle to the north state their own road or bus access.[17][3][6] XTOUR's reading: the monorail ticket suits a Naha-only day with the Navy headquarters or the costume studio; it does nothing for a day in the north or centre.

Frequently asked questions
Good to know
Does the Okinawa Monorail Ticket reach the culture parks, Nakijin Castle or Kouri Ocean Tower?
According to SkyGate's listing, the ticket covers all 19 stations from Naha Airport to Tedako-Uranishi. The operator's station list names those 19 stations, and the parks and castle in this guide state their own road or bus access instead, for example a bus from Naha for Ryukyu Village and access mainly by car for Kouri Ocean Tower.
Are Ryukyu costumes included in the Ryukyu Village or Murasaki Mura tickets?
According to SkyGate's listings, Ryukyu Village excludes paid experiences and Murasaki Mura excludes experience fees, so a costume session is not part of either admission as listed. The Ryukyu Costume Rental at Chura Bijin Ryusou Studio is a separate product at a Naha studio, with its own two options.
Can wheelchair users visit Nakijin Castle Ruins?
SkyGate's listing says the castle ruins have continuous stone steps and are difficult to access with wheelchairs and pushchairs, and that the history and culture centre has a lift and can be visited with wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Does the Kouri Ocean Tower Ticket include the Shell Museum?
According to SkyGate's option description, the Admission option includes the cart ride, the viewing floors and the Shell Museum. According to the same listing, the rooftop Ocean Deck may be closed in some weather.
