Niagara Falls, New York: US-side tours compared

Five guided Niagara Falls products sold on SkyGate start on the US side, in Niagara Falls, New York: a day walk, a night walk, a walk with a boat ride and a meal, a pick-up tour with two attractions, and one tour that also crosses into Canada. This guide sets out what each one includes, what is only an option, and what the listings leave open.

Quick answer

According to SkyGate's listings read on 3 October 2026, four of the five products stay on the US side in Niagara Falls State Park, New York, and one, the US and Canada guided tour, also crosses to the Canadian side. Pick a day or night walk if you want a guide on foot, add the Maid of the Mist only where the option includes it, and choose the pick-up tour for both the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds.

The short answer

All five products here are guided visits that begin on the US side of Niagara Falls, in Niagara Falls, New York, and four of them stay there. The choice comes down to three questions: do you want only a walk with a guide, do you want the Maid of the Mist boat ride built in, and do you want the Cave of the Winds as well. One product, the US and Canada guided tour, also crosses to the Canadian side, which the others do not describe.[5]

New York State Parks calls Niagara Falls State Park "America's oldest state park" and says the park is open year round while its attractions are seasonal. The Maid of the Mist, the Cave of the Winds and the Observation Tower are all inside it, according to the same page, and the Maid of the Mist operator says its boats leave from the Observation Tower at Prospect Point.[8][6] See the Niagara Falls State Park page on XTOUR for the park itself.

A guided walk by day: Niagara Falls USA Guided Walking Tour with Optional Maid of the Mist

This is the walk-only choice, with the boat as an add-on. SkyGate sells four options: a 90-minute or a 60-minute tour, each with or without the Maid of the Mist. The 90-minute options include Terrapin Point for views of Horseshoe Falls, while the 60-minute options visit Goat Island and Luna Island. In the two options with the boat, the listing says the Maid of the Mist is included when operating and that an Observation Tower visit is provided instead in the off-season or during weather closures.[1]

The itinerary says the meeting point is outside the Hard Rock Cafe, and the listing gives its address as 333 Prospect Street, Niagara Falls, New York. Every option needs a minimum of two adults per booking, and the listing says the walk is not wheelchair accessible. It also says the Maid of the Mist normally operates from May to October and that from November to April access to Luna Island and the Observation Tower may be limited by ice.[1]

A guided walk after dark: Niagara Falls USA Night Illumination Tour with Optional Maid of the Mist

The night tour follows the same pattern, 90 or 60 minutes with or without the boat, but walks to viewpoints in the state park to see the falls lit up.[2] New York State Parks lists a nightly illumination of the falls among the park's offers.[6] The 90-minute options view the American, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe Falls; the 60-minute options view the American and Bridal Veil Falls.[2]

The difference that matters for the boat: in the night options with the Maid of the Mist, SkyGate's listing says to take the boat ride earlier the same day or the following day, because it is not part of the evening walk. The listing gives the same meeting point outside the Hard Rock Cafe, a minimum of two participants, and says fireworks are seasonal and weather-dependent.[2]

Walk, boat and a meal: Niagara Falls USA Sightseeing Tour with Maid of the Mist and Meal

This single-option product bundles a small-group guided walk in Niagara Falls State Park, a Maid of the Mist ride and a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe. The itinerary visits Goat Island, Luna Island and Terrapin Point, and the price lists a guide, the boat ride, a meal, dessert, coffee and tea, and water and soft drinks. A minimum of two adults is required per booking. The listing does not give a separate meeting point; its page address is the Hard Rock Cafe on Prospect Street.[3]

Both water attractions with hotel pick-up: Niagara Falls US: Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds and Small Group Tour

Choose this if you want both the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds without walking in from a meeting point. SkyGate's option includes admission, a guide and hotel pick-up and drop-off from downtown Niagara Falls, USA, and says pick-up is available from the US side only. The tour rides the Maid of the Mist, visits the Cave of the Winds beside Bridal Veil Falls, then continues to Whirlpool State Park for views of the rapids.[4]

Whirlpool State Park is a viewing stop, not a ticketed attraction: New York State Parks describes a whirlpool and Class VI rapids where the Niagara River bends sharply, open year-round from dawn to dusk.[7] SkyGate's listing says you will be contacted one to three days before the tour to confirm the pick-up time, and that car seats are not provided.[4] See the Whirlpool State Park page on XTOUR.

The cross-border option: Niagara Falls US and Canada Guided Tour with Boat Cruise, Cave of the Winds and Skylon Tower

This is the only product here that crosses the border. Its option visits Goat Island, Luna Island and Terrapin Point and the Cave of the Winds on the US side, then continues to the Canadian side for the Skylon Tower, a drive along the Niagara Parkway and a stop at Table Rock, and ends with a boat cruise to the base of the falls.[5] The Canadian stops are context only: XTOUR maps this product to the US side, and XTOUR does not describe Canadian sights as US places.

The listing does not name the boat operator, and it says the boat cruise runs May to October and is replaced from November to April by the Niagara Adventure Theatre and the Butterfly Conservatory. It offers hotel pick-up from both the Canadian and US sides, or a meeting point in front of the Hard Rock Cafe, without saying which side's Hard Rock Cafe. It also says the exact duration depends on traffic, border wait times and the season; it does not list travel documents for the crossing, so check that with the seller before you book.[5]

How to choose

  • A guide on foot in daylight, boat optional: the Niagara Falls USA Guided Walking Tour with Optional Maid of the Mist.
  • The illuminated falls in the evening: the Niagara Falls USA Night Illumination Tour with Optional Maid of the Mist, taking the boat separately if your option includes it.
  • One booking for a walk, the boat and a meal: the Niagara Falls USA Sightseeing Tour with Maid of the Mist and Meal.
  • The Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds with US-side hotel pick-up: the Niagara Falls US: Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds and Small Group Tour.
  • Both sides of the falls in one tour: the Niagara Falls US and Canada Guided Tour with Boat Cruise, Cave of the Winds and Skylon Tower.

Before you book

  • Check whether your option includes the Maid of the Mist; on the day and night walks only two of the four options do.[2][1]
  • The day and night walks need at least two people per booking and, per SkyGate, are not wheelchair accessible.[2][1]
  • New York State Parks says the park's attractions are seasonal, so a boat or Cave of the Winds visit in winter is not assured.[6]
  • For the US and Canada tour, confirm the meeting side and border documents with the seller.[5]
