Ajman Museum

متحف عجمان

Ajman Museum is the history and archaeology museum in Ajman's restored 18th-century fort, on the central square of the Al Bustan area in Ajman city.

Why go

Ajman Museum occupies Ajman's restored 18th-century fort in the Al Bustan area of Ajman city; the museum and the fort are visited as one place. Ajman's Department of Tourism, Culture and Media says on its Visit Ajman site that the fort was the ruler's residence until 1970 and became a museum a decade later, and that its displays are labelled in Arabic and English. It lists manuscripts, weaponry, dhow models and irrigation systems among the exhibits, a section on the pearl trade, and finds from an excavated cemetery at Al Muwaihat, including pottery and funeral jewellery that it dates back as far as 3000 BC. The same page places the museum on the east side of the central square, next to the gold and traditional souqs.
